Glamping means you get to leave the tent pegs and sleeping bags at home. At All Is Well Resort in Saint Jo, Texas, you’ll have a king bed, your own bathroom and a private hot tub waiting for you. Even so, a few smart choices in your bag will make your weekend even better. Here’s our packing list.
For the hot tub
- Swimsuits. Pack two if you plan on a few soaks a day. Most guests do.
- Slip-on sandals or slides for getting from the hot tub back inside.
- A cosy robe or hoodie for cooler evenings on the deck.
For the trails
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes. We have more than 60 acres of woods, trails and creeks, and some of the ground by the ridgelines is uneven.
- A reusable water bottle, especially in the warmer months.
- Sunscreen and bug spray. This is the Texas countryside, after all.
For stargazing
- Layers. Even in warmer months, North Texas nights can cool off, and winter evenings get properly chilly.
- A headlamp or small flashlight, ideally with a red-light setting to protect your night vision.
- Binoculars if you have them. They’re surprisingly good for picking out star clusters and the moon’s craters.
- A star-map app, downloaded before you arrive.
For slowing down
- A good book you’ve been meaning to read
- A deck of cards or a two-player game
- A journal, if that’s your thing
- A speaker for quiet music on the deck (and a respectful volume)
For special occasions
Celebrating an anniversary, a birthday or maybe planning a proposal? Pack the card, the candles or the ring. Then leave the cooking to us by booking a private chef to serve dinner on your deck.
What to leave at home
- Pets. Sadly, pets aren’t allowed at All Is Well.
- Cigarettes. Smoking isn’t allowed inside any of our stays.
- Your to-do list. Many of our guests never leave the resort, and that’s exactly the point.
