Plenty of our guests check in at All Is Well Resort and don’t leave again until check-out. We understand why. The hot tub is warm, the deck is private and the stars are very good at keeping you where you are. But if you’d like to stretch your legs for an afternoon, the small town of Saint Jo, Texas, is right on our doorstep, and it’s well worth the short drive.
Start on the square
Saint Jo is a proper North Texas small town, with historic stone and brick storefronts gathered around the square. Park the car, wander and take your time. Nobody here is in a hurry, and after a night or two with us, you won’t be either.
Browse the art gallery and antique shops
For such a small place, Saint Jo is great for browsing. There’s an art gallery and a handful of antique shops where you can easily lose an hour looking for something you didn’t know you needed. If you’re here for an anniversary or a birthday, a little keepsake from town makes a lovely reminder of the weekend.
Taste some local wine
North Texas has a growing wine scene, and there are wineries just outside town. An unhurried tasting is one of the easiest ways to spend an afternoon before heading back to your yurt, dome or mirror house in time for sunset.
Catch some live music
Red River Station has one of the best music scenes in North Texas. Check what’s on before you arrive. A night of live music followed by a late soak under the stars is hard to beat.
Take the scenic route
The roads around Saint Jo are some of the best motorcycle roads in the area, so expect to see plenty of riders on a sunny weekend. It’s a beautiful drive by car, too, with rolling countryside in every direction. There’s also a golf course nearby, and WinStar Casino is about 30 minutes away if you’re feeling lucky.
Then come home to the quiet
Whatever you get up to, the best part of the day is coming back. Pull in, kick off your shoes, soak in the hot tub and let the North Texas sky take over. That’s the whole idea at All Is Well: nature right outside your door, with peace and quiet waiting whenever you’re ready for it.
